2015 Lincoln MKC
Although Lincoln MKC uses the same C1 platform as some Ford’s models such as Focus, C-Max and especially MKC’s cousin Escape, we can’t say that MKC is just a copy of Ford’s model. Maybe it is not full-unique car, but it has some alterations that make it more than a simple re-skin.
2015 Lincoln MKC Concept
Changing the kingpin angles, MKC got a wider track than Escape. MKC also got all-new front suspension geometry to avoid introducing bump steer and other discomfort. Compared to Escape, it has a lower positioned seats because of lower pillars and roof. MKC also features some innovations such as brake rotors and calipers and it also has an electronic parking brake. It also has different, some kind of a retro design, featuring the 1950s-style push-button transmission on the dash, just like recent MKZ. The vehicle will get a whole-new, redesigned front fascia and a shorter rear overhang. According to company spokesman, this model will be the heaviest vehicle on the C1 platform, although we still don’t have any specification.
2015 Lincoln MKC Specs
The basic engine will be, just like in Fusion and Escape, turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder. This engine makes 240 horses and 366 Nm of torque and it is paired with Ford’s 6F35 six-speed automatic. The stronger one is turbocharged 2.3 liter four-cylinder engine that makes 275 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 410 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. This engine goes with unique intake and exhaust plumbing, including a three-port integrated exhaust manifold (as opposed to a single port); a new radiator, condenser, and air-to-air intercooler; larger valves; and its own twin-scroll Honeywell turbocharger that pumps at 15 psi. With this engine, MKC will be a perfect match for its European competitors such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes GLK and Range Rover Evoque. We will say – a pretty hard competition for Lincoln. Unfortunately, V -6 won’t be in offer for Lincoln MKC, although it is available in Escape.
2015 Lincoln MKC Release Date and Price
The new model should be available in early summer. The basic price of 34,000 dollars makes it a little bit cheaper than European competitors – base price for Q5 is 38,000, for GLK 38,500 and for X3 over 40.000 dollars. However, there is still no detailed price and equipment list for the Lincoln, so we can’t compare the price of similarly equipped models.
